Local Control Accountability Plan

What is the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)?

The LCAP is an important component of the Local Control Funding Formula. Under the LCFF all LEAs are required to prepare an LCAP, which describes how they intend to meet annual goals for all pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities identified pursuant to EC Section 52060(d).

Who approves the LCAP and for how long?

By July 1 of each year, the governing board of each school district shall adopt a local control and accountability plan (LCAP) using a template adopted by the State Board, effective for three years with annual updates. It will include the LEA’s annual goals for all pupils and for each subgroup in regard to eight state priorities and any local priorities, as well as the plans for implementing actions to achieve those goals.
